Drug Testing

  • Indiana Stock Show implemented new entry rules in 2019 (no DNA required).  However, with this the drug testing guidelines must be reiterated.  Any and all animals entered and shown at the Indiana Stock Show is at the sole responsibility of the exhibitor.  If an animal tests positive for a non-approved drug (see list of approved drugs below) the exhibitor will be held accountable no matter the circumstances, date of purchase, or date of taking possession of the animal.
  1. Top 5 animals in each specie will immediately be taken to the designated drug testing area for a urine sample or blood sample once the grand drive for that specie has ended.  As soon as ISS official veterinarian has gotten everything they need from the exhibitor & their animal then they are released.
    • Indiana Stock Show committee reserves the right to drug test all 5 in each species, just the top two or any amount in the top 5.

  2.  We will release a list of approved drugs for each species.  All substances not listed on the ISS Approved drug list are subject to be tested for.

The list of approved medications is as follows: Banamine, Dexamethasone, PreDef 2x, Salix, BO-SE, MU-SE, Baytril, Draxxin, LA-200, NuFlor, Micotel, Naxcel, Excenel, Excede, Penicillin, Phos-Aid & Polyflex.

  3. If any substance found in the urine sample or blood sample is not on the ISS Approved drug list, then the individual exhibitor will be subject to the following penalties:
    • Disqualified from exhibiting at the Indiana Stock Show for two years.
    • Ineligible for any & all scholarships given by the Indiana Stock Show.
    • Any & all premium money will be forfeited.
    • All banners & awards will go back into the possession of the Indiana Stock Show after pictures are taken and returned to exhibitor after a passed drug test.  If drug test is failed, then the awards will not be returned.
    • If awards are not returned to Indiana Stock Show staff after pictures are taken, then you will be billed at ISS discretion and disqualified from showing for 1 year.
    • If an exhibitor returns to show at Indiana Stock Show and has an animal fail a drug test for a second time the result will be permanently disqualified from showing at the Indiana Stock Show.
